Warren Charles Brooke is an artist, poet and architect. His broad body of art work spans nearly 60 years. His objective is to develop a story, painted by using light as the primary medium, that is, not to use colour to achieve light. His art discipline requires two things. Firstly knowing that the painting evolves by itself by the same understanding that a sculpture releases the human form from a block of marble. The second, and equally vital element in creating a work on canvas is the deep inner knowledge that the painter is merely holding the brush and is required to follow the method the work dictates without contest or force - "an artwork is completed by what it takes to release it".
Charles Brooke presents his work so that others might view his imagination and that they in turn might release something of their own imagination. "If it holds the viewers attention, then the work is successful"
Charles Brooke has works in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and North America.
